Master of Social Work, Registered Social Worker
Liz has 10 years of therapy experience in the United States and Canada. She has pursued post-graduate training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Multisystemic Therapy (MST), Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) as well as skills training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
Liz is passionate about creating welcoming, transparent, collaborative spaces where people feel safe enough to be vulnerable. She has worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups in various capacities, and enjoys the privilege of witnessing human resiliency. Liz employs a casual, personal, and professional approach from an intersectional framework that encourages others to dig deeper within, become self-aware and assured, and (re)install the skills to move on as healthier and happier people. She finds immense value in ongoing personal development and works to continually identify and dismantle personal and professional biases. It's fine if you swear, wear cozy pants, or sit like a goblin in her office- she'll likely be doing the same. Comfort is prioritized over professionalism.
Liz was born in Canada, but moved to the United States as a child and spent most of her life in Cleveland, Ohio. She also lived in coastal North Carolina and most recently Boston, Massachusetts before repatriating, and is thrilled to have planted intentional roots in Guelph with her partner and children. Liz lives as a queer, neurodivergent (ADHD) person with dynamic disabilities and is happy to share resources as able. In her spare time, Liz enjoys seeking out new knowledge and experiences that spark passion and connection including sustainability and social justice (however, she doesn’t play a warrior...she’s currently an inquisitive rogue in her weekly D&D game). She whole-heartedly welcomes your info-dumps, hyperfixations, and special interests!
Liz is currently working on learning ASL through the Oklahoma School for the Deaf (and supplemented through Lifeprint) to create a more accessible space.
