The standard entrance has stairs. However, there is a ramp at the back of the building. While that entrance stays locked, your therapist will be able to open the door for you from the inside. The accessible entrance is next to our office.
The entrance to the waiting room is about 34 inches/86.4 centimetres wide. It has a metal bar under the door that is flush with the carpet and should not be a barrier to mobility devices.
The entrance to our office door (the doorway on the right) is about 32 inches/81.3 centimetres wide. The carpet is low-pile and lies flat between the waiting room and office.
There is a single, all-gender washroom that can be accessed from the waiting room. The doors are approximately 26 inches/66 centimetres wide. The washroom may not be suited for wheelchair transfers. Contact us if more details are needed - we are happy to provide what we can!
The office has covers for the flourescent lights to reduce harshness, although the shared waiting room does not. We are happy to adjust for sensory needs and adapt the space for comfort as able.
All communication styles are welcome here, including no-, low-, or high-tech Augmentive and Alternative Communication. If you do not (whether all or some of the time) use speaking for communication, we can work together to find a mutually accessible solution.
At this time, services are offered in English. If an interpreter is desired for ASL or other languages, please let us know and we will work with you to navigate your needs and access appropriate supports.
We do not use aromatherapy oils or similar products in office and try to avoid perfumes or other heavily-scented personal products.
There is typically music playing in the waiting room to enhance privacy. There may be building or outdoor noises during session. We do run an air filter and can add extra white noise as needed within the office. If any of these might be overstimulating, please let us know how to best support your needs!
There are velvety covers on the couches in the room. If this is an issue please let us know and we can cover with a different material (such as a blanket.
The office temperature can vary (often cold in the summer, warm in the winter) so wearing or bringing layers is often helpful. We do keep a small space heater in the office to help with managing temperature as well.
Please alert to any allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, household pets, or other. Between food items, support animals, clients who may be using scented products, etc. we have a lot coming in and out, and your health and safety are a priority!
There are fidgets and colouring books available upon request that you are more than welcome to use during your time here. You are also encouraged to bring your own items to fidget or stim with if you'd like, including things like your knitting or crochet projects- whatever helps you to stay more present and focused is welcome here.
